FYI - Today Apple released version 5.0.3 of Safari. The last bullet in the list of "improvements" is "Improved stability when using VoiceOver with Safari." In the US the download is available via the standard software update procedure: Apple Menu / Software Update. The install required a restart of my mid 2010 Mac Mini running 10.6.5 in order to complete.
