Thanks for the link to the PCWorld article. I actually encountered
the "disappearing" content bug where the music, podcasts, etc.
appeared at first to not be findable with the iPod app after the
update. I thought this might have been because I manually transferred
some of the content, but it turns out that I solved this in a way
similar to their suggestion: I reattached the device to my Mac and
expanded the device under sources table. Looking under the music and
podcasts folders for the device showed up all the music, which I was
able to play from those sources. I copied and pasted the entries
again to the device, and when I detached the iPad, everything was
there. (Before, some weird message about being unable to complete
syncing had appeared.)
