this is probably already been covered, but satellite systems, direct 
dishnetwork and the free to air mpeg systems all use different and proprietary 
data formats and encryption, so any litle box would either have to be supported 
specifically by directv dish or whatever, or would have to control an existing 
reciever and connect to it as if it were a tv , as a vcr would connect to a 
cable box and control it back in the day.
