I heard from him, and he wrote back that he was able to reproduce the VO 
problem.  I also CC'ed Apple accessibility.  Now, having gone back to 8.66 
version, it's slightly better, buyt still not quite cooperating.

At least now he's got two of us bugging (or trying to debug) him.:)
