Chris,
I did find apple tv listed in Itunes in the remote speakers section, and 
airfoil also sees it just as it sees airport expresses, so it would appear that 
you can at least send audio to the device, or I should say through the device, 
from a Mac. I wonder if the video is picked up by airfoil as well, since you 
can stream fro the dvd app as a source for airfoil. I'd guess not, but sighted 
partner will have to confirm or deny. 

I still have the choppy speech problem with vo, though. I wonder if it could be 
something with the connection with the optical cable, since once vo gets going, 
it is fine, but the first syllable or two of the item moved to with the remote 
is pretty much always missed. It really does make navigation with that remote a 
problem.
