The ability to switch spell checking and grammar checking to different languages on the fly was added in Snow Leopard. If you actually want to type an "Eszett" (or German "sharp ess") in an email in English, you can do this by pressing your Option key together the "s" key. For a general description of how to type accented characters without changing your input language keyboard, see my archived post, "Re: writing in spanish": http://www.mail-archive.com/macvisionaries%40googlegroups.com/msg26236.html It gives the rules for the various ways of using the Option key to type accents and accented characters. It also links to another archived post ("Re: typing special characters") with a list of the special symbols you can type with Option key combinations for an English language input keyboard: http://www.mail-archive.com/macvisionaries%40googlegroups.com/msg10170.html The one you might have the most fun with is the "Apple" trademark symbol (Option+Shift+K), which VoiceOver on your Mac will pronounce as "Apple". It's also useful to know how to make the "bullet" sign (Option+8). HTH. Cheers, Esther -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group.
