Hi Listers, Has anyone else noticed that since about a month ago or around the time FB unveiled their new profile option, posting status updates or on friends wall using the main FB seems easier as VO now recognizes and reads the labels of the edit boxes such as "What's On Your Mind" and "Write Something" For the longest time VO would only read that there was an edit box but not the label. Other listers did previously offer suggestion such as turning curser tracking off and using item chooser both of which could spot the labels and place the user in the proper edit box, but using VO and the arrow keys didn't always work to even find the edit boxes at times. Now, VO reads seemingly all labels and has no difficulty locating the edit box.
For those interested on the main FB sitethere is a "heading level 2" which VO reads to me followed by a share button. If you VO+right arrow once, you'll hear VO read that there is a list containing four items. They are "status", "photo", "link", "video" Pressing VO+space bar on "status" automatically brings up "What's on your mind edit box" Type your status and if you wish, paste a url to a link, you can then preview hw the link will look to your friends after you post it. VO will read the edit box as "Say something About The Link" If you wish to comment then you can. If you're like me and you type your remarks prior to pasting in the url then you simply VO+right arrow twice to the share button, press VO+space bar and your status is updated. On a friend's wall you will see the list of four items, but the "status" option is replaced by one which reads "post." VO+space bar on that and you are put into an edit box which reads "Write Something." Take the same steps and post on your friend's wall. Little by little I've been noticing some small accessibility improvements on FB main site as slowly more items on the sight can now be recognized by VO.
