Hi all.
Yesterday while trying to listen to an audio cd, something weird happened in
ITunes. I got a dialog saying "importing", and thinking that ITunes had started
importing the cd something i didn't want it to do, i stopped the import. I then
got an error messaged that said that the file itunes library.xml appeared not
to be a valid itunes file or something like that and that ITunes had tried to
recreate the library and had renamed the old file to ITunes library(damaged).
When i looked in my library i only had 36 artists where there usually are over
900 artists. I tried simply renaming the damaged file back to ITunes library,
and sure enough it tried to import the .xml file but stopped half way with the
same error message, that the xml file appeared to not be valid or somesuch and
that ITunes had tried to recreate the library and renamed the old file and only
36 of over 900 artists are there. How if at all can i recreate the library? If
i make a new library, how do i get my old music back? How do i get my purchased
music over to a new library should it be necessary to create one?
Any help would be much appreciated.
/Krister
