Well, this list is a hell of a primer. I love the value of the data you get from this list. Having your own mac to play with is 90% of it as well. I have an absolute ton of Network related skills but they all came from learning onthe job under fire or having my own equipment / lab to experiment with. Hands on learning is a great way in this profession.
