I guess it's pretty odious work. I tried to recruit volunteers for him a while back. I know people who for various reasons have free time and actually needed something to occupy themselves, but they really balked when it came to solving captchas. One friend actually said that she has a hard enough time solving them for herself, and wouldn't want to be responsible for solving them for others.
