How do I access vuescan?
Sorry, I know nothing about this.
I'm used to k1000.

Try scanning using Image Capture which is already on your Mac.
That will create a file for ABBYY FineReader to open.
I use it this way for single pages, but for books, I use VueScan
to scan the whole book into one file then the file is opened
automatically by FineReader.
VueScan creates much clearer images than Image Capture, so the
results are much better.
