Ray: To read someone's profile, you perform the following steps.
Interact with the table that shows your contacts. Then, arrow to the contact you want. While still interacting with the table, bring up the context menu for the contact you're interested in with VO-Shift-M. Then, arrow to the item that says "view profile". I think that's what it says, anyway. Hope that helps. I'm still trying to figure out how to turn on/off my webcam while within a call. I used to be able to do it in the current non-beta version of skype, but havne't found any way to do this from the beta.
