My Mac Book has one jack that uses the same connectors as the iPhone / ipod 
shuffle.  I don't know the actual pin outs but things should be aalright. Most 
folks who want better quality use usB or more conviiently bluetooth for their 
sound connections.  Also most (maybe all ) Macintosh computers expect analog 
audio input to be pre amplified before reaching the computer.
