No, I was able to read each character, and I entered it right.  There is no 
other :D symbol or anything.  The only thing I can think of, is that it's some 
sort of weird bug.  I can't do <3 for love or heart either.  I emailed the 
Apple people, told them my situation, asked them what was going on.  It just 
bugs the heck outta me when I'm trying to read a Facebook post, and someone's 
used emoticons....which is quite frequent with my friends and I.  Maybe someone 
else has a suggestion.
