When you have a message with an attachment, Press enter to open the message in it's own window. Press control option left arrow until you hear slideshow button. Press control option space. What happens next depends on the nature of the attachment. PDF, word, and RTF files open in an html area which you need to interact with to read the contents. Sound files supported on mac OS such as wav and mp3 start to play. When you are finished with an attachment press space bar or command W.
