Hi Jane, to write an acute accent, press Option-E followed by the letter you want to accent.
To write an N with a tilde, write Option-n followed by N. To write an inverted exclamation mark, type Option-1. To write an inverted question mark, type option plus question mark, i.e. Option-Shift-backslash.
