Hi all, I was hoping to make a few partitions on the hard drive of my MaCBook Pro. I remember reading somewhere that in order to partition a hard drive that already contains data, it is necessary to format the drive first. I really have trouble believing this, but it came from a source that I generally trust. Of course, this is a real problem, I'd probably need to put the idea on hold until after this semester if this is the case. Does anyone here have experience with this? Can you confirm whether it is necessary to completely format the drive before partitioning?
