Hi Joseph,
If I may suggest an alternative, while I haven't used frotz on the Mac, I do 
love ZOom.  That will play not only zCode games, but Tads and Adrift and Glulx 
as well.  It speaks game text.  I imagine it would have issues with 
Bureaucracys forms, sadly, but at least you won't be losing a few lines here 
and there.

Best and enjoy those old Infocom games.  Trinity is special.
