Dear Shawn, To clarify, are you referring to the Open and Save dialogs and such, or to Finder windows? Either way, my own experience with column mode is a bit different. I never get the "Date Modified" except in List mode. I'd double check your settings. I never have to interact with the file browser, either, just make sure my cursor is actually on it. from that point, arrow keys work as expected. Best, Zack.
