Hi,

If you've saved the actual eMail to the Documents folder, then when the eMail 
is opened in TextEdit, simply navigate to the area of the document where the 
imbedded file is announced and then VO-space on it.  This will open the 
attachment.

Otherwise, you'll need to save the attachments prior  to saving the actual 
eMail message.  In this case the attachments will thus be outside the eMail 
message and easier to locate.
