thanks. this does help some. what i was expecting was for itunes to create a 
playlist with all of the tracks from the cd in it, - the way other music 
players create a folder. when i arrowed  up and down the column where the 
playlist i had created were in the list with music, podcasts genius etc were 
located, i did not see this.
what i have noticed is that when i did browse the album list, there seemed to 
be lists of album names that really were not part of the five cds. 
it is just taking me some rethinking to get accustomed to how itunes classifies 
music. but your contributions are helpful.
