Well, Steph, a lot of us use Amadeus Pro. Some others of us use Garadge Band. I could never quite get my head around Garadge Band though. Oh, another choice is Audacity.
Amadeus Pro costs $59.95 for a single user license, Garadge Band is free; comes with your unit. Audacity is free; at least, I think so. IF you want ssome tips and tricks for amadeus Pro, go here: www.blindcooltech.com Also, I just started a new thread on Amadeus Pro which has just undergone what appears to be a fairly major upgrade; so, you might be seeing some very interesting and, (I hope) very helpful messages around this very subject.
