This has happened to me a few times for no apparent reason. First: 1. Try clicking the power button about four or five times in quick succession and wait a few seconds. This usually works. 2. Also ensure in Settings that she has triple-click-home set to toggle Voice-Over on and off. Go into Settings/General/Accessibility/Voiceover -- it can be found there. Make sure it's on. HTH.
