Michael, Using Skype to enter extensions while on a call can be tricky. This is because of the latency factor. While I have never encountered this problem using Skype for the Mac, I often encounter it when using Skype on my Windows 7 machine. There are tons and tons of articles on the web addressing this problem. Sometimes, I find that I have to actually disconnect a call and then redial in order to have the subsequent extension numbers recognized by the receiving end of the call. I am not dismissing the fact that there may be something weird with your Mac but want you to know that you may have to engage in some tech black magic in order to solve the problem. One thing I will suggest is that you reset both your router and Mac before making Skype calls; also, make sure there is no one else on your network downloading anything.
