Flash is a tricky thing, videos or otherwise. There has been an ongoing
spat where Adobe has not hooked Flash into Apple's accessibility APIs so
there is no voiceover access to flash widgets. Why this happened is
another topic of discussion but even if they did, the results would be
mixed to poor as it is on Windows today. Most Flash developers just
don't seem to know or care about labeling buttons and other things to
make their widgets accessible. So the shift to html5 instead of flash
can only improve things. Under the hood most flash video players are
pulling a video file and these are often just standard mpeg4, so the
trick is to figure out what that file URL is and pull it into another
accessible player. That's what clicktoflash and the youtube html5
players do. Is the content coming from youtube? Then it should play in
their html5 player. Do you have the actual video files? If so then there
are probably ways to get them converted to something playable.

I can't remember if ClickToFlash is set to convert videos to html5 by default
or not, so here's how to check.
Press option+comma for the ClickToFlash preferences. At first I kept pressing
command+comma for safari preferences and wondering where these settings were
supposed to be. A frame will show up at the bottom of the page. Interact with
the frame and press VO+space on html5 replacements. The categories will not
appear as links but doing this still works. Make sure everything is checked.
Now go back to the list of categories and press VO+space on media player. Check
the box to load the media player automatically.
I just thought of another trick to try if ClickToFlash is unable to play your
videos. Some sites have an alternative interface for iOS devices, since they do
not work with flash content. It is possible to have safari tell the site that
you are on iOS.
Press command+comma for safari preferences, and then go to the advanced
settings. Check the box to show the develop menu in the menu bar, and then
close preferences. In the develop menu, go to the user agent sub menu and
choose any of the options to identify as an iOS device. The page will refresh,
and just maybe present some more accessible form of video.
Hope this was more helpful.

Hi Justin:
I've got Click2Flash installed but it just doesn't do it for this site. If I
get myself on a video using VO I just hear the keyword Flash which gives me no
option to click on it to get any results. The worst thing about these videos is
that they do not play when the page for the video is loaded. This is even
without Click2Flash installed.

Hi Doug,
ClickToFlash is an extension that handles several other sites besides youtube.
I'm not sure if it will play the videos on the site you need, but there's
always a chance. ClickToPlugin is by the same author, and includes all of the
features from ClickToFlash and adds the ability to convert silverlight and
windows media content as well. Here is the web site for the both extensions.

Hello list:
I am looking for either a Safari Extension or plugin that will allow me to
convert any flash video to HTML5. I've seem extensions that will let me do this
with Youtube videos but not videos from other sites. I'm taking a course that
has lots of flash videos and am wondering if there is something available that
can do this.
Thanks in advance,
Doug
