Hello David, As far as I know, VueScan isn't available from the Appstore. You can download it from: www.hamrick.com
You don't have to pay immediately, but it leaves a watermark on every scan until you do. It costs something like $39 for one year or $79 for a permanent license. You can get either the 32- or 64-bit version, and there are updates frequently. If you're using VueScan for OCR, it only works when the scan is the right way round. However, Command-R will rotate the scan through 90˚ so you don't have to move the document. VueScan also handles auto repeat, and the interval between scans can be set as short as 1 second and as long as 8 hours! VueScan produces very clear scans, much better than Image Capture, which is why I prefer to use it with ABBYY FineReader.
