Hi Paul,
I, too, recommend the Unarchiver. It will unzip rar files.
Download it free of charge at the Apple App Store.

Hi Paul,
If you need an archiving shell that unzips, zips etc, I had
better zip from the app store. If you want to unrar, you can
install the trial version of rar for os10. Worked like a charm.
I have not used it since Lion is installed though, but perhaps
just take a look. Betterzip zips and unzips natively, and it
supports a number of other formats. It is not cheap though, but
given the number or archives I have on my external drive, it was
worth it.
Paul.

Hi. I know that the mac will unzip zip files, but I'm looking
for one that will also unzip RAR files as well. I know that the
win zip people have a version for the mac, but I don't know how
accessible it is.
Any recommendations for an accessible one?
Thanks.
