Yes it is possible to use a midi keyboard with the laptop. I am using a M-Audio keyboard. This is the best brand to use with Garageband and Logic from what I understand. I have had no problems with 3rd party plug-ins or loops. I too am looking forward to getting a few Jam packs. you can purchess them from with in Garageband.
