I think this came up once before but I was having a weird experience with iTunes audio on my March 2011 Mac mini. Listening to some random piano samples through the built-in speaker sounded fine (or at least as good as that little speaker will ever be) but when I connected audio from the headphone jack it got all distorted. I turned off the EQ and all the other audio tweaking features but no change. Even turning the audio way down and turning up my amp still made it distorted. What was especially bizarre was that if I pulled up one of the Garage Band samples that sounded just fine. It seems to be tied to iTunes. I thought at one time the sound preferences said 'Line Out' but now it says 'Headphone port' so maybe the output signal is too hot for my mixer. Running my iPhone into the same amp/cable works just fine so I know that part of the setup is good. Any suggestions appreciated.
