Robert, You have to first focus on the mailbox you want to search, either a main folder or a sub folder. Then press command-option-F to enter the search box in the toolbar, enter your search, and use the up/down arrow keys to choose a result. Press enter on the result you would like to inspect, and go to the messages list. Here you will find all matching results. You can also use the Favorite Bar to choose a folder, or select the "All" checkbox to see results from all of your folders.
