Hi Gigi. The Pearl Camera unfortunately does not work with any other programs or operating systems besides Openbook in Windows.

First, I got the voices to work. Thanks Anne. Second, does anybody know if the Purl Camera will work with the Mac without installing Windows and OpenBook? Does anybody know if another software scanning program will work with the Purl Camera on the Mac? Do you already have drivers for your scanner so that it works in os10? Paul. On Sep 18, 2011, at 2:48 AM, Johnny Angel! wrote: Hi Paul, Okay great! I own an Epson 1660 photo scanner that works wonderfully with OpenBook on a Windows machine. Do you know of a list of scanners supported by Fine Reader? But if you want OCR, then the quickest way I have found so far, is to use fine reader express. It is in the mac app store and it costs 80 euros, I think some 95 or 100 dollars. Its interface is easy to use, and for a single page or for a few pages, I have found it to be a good solution. I haven't tried scanning entire books with it yet. So yes, the mac can take images from a camera or a scanner, but for OCR you need a separate piece of software. Hth, Paul. Just curious. If this would work, I'm also wondering if an external camera can be used with this feature. Johnny Johnny Angel!
