The way I've found to do it is: 1. Interact with the text and move to the start of the desired selection. 2. Hit vo-enter. 3. Use normal commands to move from the start to the end of the selection. 4. Hit vo-enter again, then cmd-c to copy.
There's probably an easier way, but that is all I could find on Google when I tried selecting the other day.
