Did you get a solution?  I found that if I composed the message on myMac, and 
then logged into GMAIL and went to drafts and sent from the web interface 
e-mails that were not getting to Verizon started working again.  If ISP's keep 
this up, soon we will all be using Facebook which would be unfortunate.

For a bit more details, there is a spam lookup site, that indicates if specific 
IP address ranges are being blacklisted.  I looked up my IP and they indicated 
that COX had said that only authenticated e-mail via ESMTP should be accepted, 
and indeed  GMAIL's SMTP servers are set up as being authenticated and yet my 
e-mails were consistently being blocked by Verizon when sent from 
[email protected]
