Hi Ray,

OK, I just thought of a reason that using the Keyboard Commander shortcut, at
least with the Right Option key as a modifier, isn't a good idea for TextEdit
word count. I should have thought of this earlier: if you're in a TextEdit
window, the Option key combinations are used to generate other character
symbols. Option+w is normally the combination to generate the summation sign
in Math. There are probably other such combinations. Most of the other key
combinations with the Option key in TextEdit have alternate symbols. I'll have
to think this one over. How annoying. I can always assign a shortcut without
using keyboard commander, but still!!!! Maybe Hai has a suggestion.

Cheers,

Esther
