sound check to those unfamiliar is a level limiter for audio. as an example, 
it's to protect users from excessive sound levels. it is available both in 
itunes and most / all ipods. it's simply a matter of setting up in itunes 
preferences sound check in playback settings. when setting up on the nano, do 
the same in itunes but go to your device name in the main itunes window, like 
you would the iphone.
