Hi,

for the loops, just paste the loop once into your project.  every time you 
paste, it adds a new track as you found out the hard way. :).  After you have 
imported the loop, just loop it instead of pasting.  To do this interact with 
arrange layout, time group and the name of the loop you've pasted or, if you 
have multiple tracks or regions already, interact with instruments then the 
region.  There you will find the loop handle.  Interact and press VO right 
arrow to extend the loop the amount of bars you desire.

You should go to www.mobileaccess.org and type garageband into the search 
field.  Then you will see all the audio tutorials I did for Garageband.
