Webkit is the 'rendering engine' that powers Safari. So when you run webkit nightlies you will get what seems like just another copy of Safari but under the hood it will be running the latest engine. That means you'll get all the latest bug fixes but it also means you get all the newest bugs that aren't fixed yet or are unknown. As a daily build your mileage may vary from day to day. Webkit is also the engine running a number of other browsers including the aforementioned Chrome, the Kindle web browser, Android browser, iCab, OmniWeb, WebOS and others. Combined, webkit browsers make up the second most popular browser on the desktop after Internet Explorer and greater than Firefox (53%, 23% and 22% for the top three). It also takes the lions share on mobile (about 77%) so it was a good horse to bet on when Apple created it from the Konquere KHTML library.

Ah ha, that link was better. :) I'm downloading it now? I am downloading the
latest nightly build. Is this the correct one? Is this a completely different
web browser apart from Safari? I understood it to be. I really hope this
makes my browsing experience much smoother. I'm tired of a simple google
search taking me an hour instead of ten minutes.

Thanks so much,
Christina

Hmmm, what is webkit? I followed the link but I don't get it. I did not find
a download link or description of the app? Is it a separate browser apart from
Safari? Pardon my ignorance but I cannot figure it out.

I am still using SL and I am using the most current version of Safari. Why am
I having so much difficulty navigating around pages. There are just so many
odd to issues and I'm frustrated that I cannot efficiently browse the web or
use FB mobile with it taking forever or just not being able to shop around
online.

Either I can't hear what I am typing in a text box/edit field, or I am bounced
back to the beginning of the page constantly. I also constantly get the busy
busy busy message. There are also other quirks like just being bounced around
to various spots on a page or simply not being able to arrow/navigate to a
specific portion of a web page.

Is everyone else having these quirky issues? Is there anything I can do to fix
it? Will upgrading to lion solve the issues? I'm totally frustrated. I've
also seen some mention of using chrome but I know nothing about that. Is that
a fix?

Thanks so much,
Christina C
