Angie,
Yes that is possible. In internet explorer, go into the file menu, alt plus f,
and then find export. In this menu option you will be able to export all your
bookmarks. The dialogs contains a number of checkboxes, so just turn on
favorites and turn off the other ones. They will be exported into one single
file. Move that file over to your mac, go to safari, open the file menu, find
import, and import the favorites, or bookmarks in safari jargon, from there.
Once you have them imported, they will not immediately appear in your bookmarks
menu. Instead, you need to find them using a dialog called show all bookmarks.
Command shift b. If you stop interacting with the html area in safari where
your web page is, then move left with the voiceover cursor and you will find
your bookmarks. However, how this works is not immediately apparent to the eye,
or to the ear. The left most table shows categories of bookmarks, while the
second table shows all bookmarks inside the leftmost table. In the leftmost
table with bookmark categories, you will find names like rss feeds, bookmarks
bar, bookmarks menu, and other categories. To open a bookmark from here, I
found that you can vo shift m on the url of a bookmark, and in the context menu
there, you hit vo space on open. Once you've got your bookmarks from internet
explorer imported, just scan all categories in safari, to find out where they
went. On my machine, they ended up in a category named unknown, and I still
have to move them elsewhere as soon as I find how how that is done. For now
though, you can access your internet explorer bookmarks again from within
safari. For other follow up questions, ask here, and hopefully others will
chime in on it.

Hth,
Paul.
