Hi Jessica!
Well I've set a keyboard shortcut for mine!
So I only need to press right option key plus R [R for reply] because A is set 
to adium!
But you can also launch it from the doc by either return or vo space or even 
vo+shift+m and find open in that menu!
Mind you the address book has some issue's of its own!
And I'm running snowy kitty and do not know if it is any better in Lion!
But I hth anyway!
