Hi. I have been doing some research on database rebuilders for the iPod shuffle. So far the only database rebuilder I have found requires a normal computer to make it work. I am trying to use the iPod shuffle without iTunes. I also have been doing research on the iPod shuffle and I have found out that you can't just copy songs on to it and expect them to play. I have a special computer called a BrailleNote Apex that is made by Humanware that I use because I am completely blind. I also have an iPod shuffle that is 4 gb and it is the rectangle one with the controls on the headset instead of buttons on the iPod. Humanware is the only company that can wright software to run on my BrailleNote. I can't use any external programs. That means that for me iTunes is out of the question. It can not be done. It also means that I can't tell my iPod to launch the database rebuilder. When I hook my iPod shuffle up to my BrailleNote it comes up like any of the other usb drives I hook up to it. I can transfer files on and off of it but I can't get in to change any settings on the iPod. All I can do is put files on and off and if needed I can make folders and sub folders. Is there a way for me to make my iPod work under these limitations? If not, Then is there a database builder that can be launched from the iPod without having to start it from a computer? What I mean is a program that I can copy on to my iPod and then unhook my iPod from my BrailleNote and turn on my iPod and have the program automatically start itself? If such a program does not exist, Then is there a sub folder I could copy the songs in to to make them play. Or is there a way to manually make my own database? Or is there a way to make this work that I am just not thinking about? I just have my BrailleNote and no other computers to work with here. Thanks in advance for any and all help.
