I've started playing with AirFoil. It rocks. It lets you pipe an application's
audio through AirPlay. This also lets you select your audio source, giving a
way to make iTunes use a different audio output. I want to ditch iTunes for
music playing of course, and if possible would like to use the Music Player
Daemon (MPD). This would give a far more blind-friendly interface. VLC seems
too buggy.

Anyways, I wrote them to ask how to get MPD going through AirFoil. They wrote
back and said to option-click on the audio source button, then I could select
eh MPD process directly. I can't seem to get the hang of it though. Firstly
this button has a rather non-standard behavior - the standard activation
commands don't work, and you have to hit space or bring up a shortcut menu.
Doing a simulated mouse click with Vo-shift-space also works. I tried routing
the mouse cursor, turning off trackpad commander, then trying an option-click,
but to no avail. Can anyone suggest how to bring up this alternate menu?

Thanks, and if you love AirPlay then try AirFoil. It has a few little things
about it so ask if you need help.
