Hi Hank,

First, bring up your applications list with Command-Shift-A.  start typing in 
the name of the desired app.  VO will speak the app's names as you type them.  
Once finding the desired app, type Command-Shift T and VO will inform you that 
you've added the app to the dock.  You're done at this point.  Once on the 
Dock, brought up with VO-D, you can again start typing in the app desired and 
it will be read.  Command-O to open the app.
