Hello, In addition to Anne's excellent summary, remember that some web pages with articles embedded in a page with advertising, images, or other content can be accessed with Safari Reader (shortcut Command-Shift-R). This will let you read by line, character, or word in a singe text document. Not all, but most web pages with embedded articles can be read with Safari Reader. In these instances you'll want to issue the shortcut for Safari Reader first, before applying the other navigation tips that Anne lists.
And I'll just repeat her first sentence which is that you should remember to interact with the text before using these commands. HTH.
