Never heard of this before. Apparently there is a sysdiagnose command in terminal which dumps a pile of system information into a set of files with the idea that you could send it to Apple to help resolve some issue. So this doesn't sound like something normally used, not to mention something that should just be auto-launching. By default the output is stored in the hidden folder "var" in a sub folder called "tmp" with a name that looks something like this:

sysdiagnose_May.08.2012_10-00-06.tar.gz

Ahhh, here's a possibility:

Apparently sysdiagnose can be triggered by the key combination of

control-option-command-shift-period

Any possibility you typed something like this?

Hi, Ricardo,

It's been happening for quite a while, despite restarting the machine many
times. I probably saw the first instance a few months ago. Now, I think it's
happening more often, though.

Ah!

but, hey, I miss the obvious all the time. lol

Hi, Ricardo,

I haven't done anything yet, because I've had no bright ideas. Or other ideas,
for that matter. :)

Hi,

What have you done so far to try to get rid of this so people don't suggest
things you've already tried.

Thanks.

Hi, all,

This problem is driving me slightly bonkers. I go on my merry way doing various
tasks on my Mac Mini, and Finder pops up with Sysdiagnose folder open and a
file highlighted. This causes VO to lose focus on whatever I'm trying to
accomplish at the moment.

Does anyone have any ideas? I have not a clue what to do from here.

Thanks,
Teresa
