Well beyond that,  Max has way more formats supported for ripping and 
converting.  It's got 3 different rippers for trying to rescue info from bad 
disks. It can rip to two formats at once.  It's got cuesheet support.  It's a 
converter as well as a ripper.  And it integrates into your ITunes library, so 
you can use it to rip CD's directly into itunes if that's what you want to do.

The minor drawbacks are, I don't like the naming it uses to rip tracks to a 
single file.  It doesn't encode on the fly as far as I know.  It uses Music 
brains which is not the most prolific cddb database ever.  You can work around 
that by grabbing data from ITunes with an included script, but then, if part of 
the point is not to use ITunes because you prefer not like me, you don't really 
want to be doing it that way.
