Hi,

After the track is split, there are now 2 regions.  You just delete the region 
containing the part of the track you do not want.  If you are deleting the 
first portion of a track, you might want to use control delete.  This not only 
deletes the region but, slides the remaining region in its place.  This way you 
are not left with a blank spot.
