Hi, You can tag with the official iPhone app when you are adding a picture. I've only done it once but I have done it and it wasn't too bad of a process. It was a bit time consuming for me though. :) However, I do not know of a way to tag in a plain status update. I only have tagged with a photo in the official FB app on my iPhone.
