pardon me if I seem a bit less than enthusiastic about MacKeeper. I have had
recent bad experiences with that particular site. their adverts in some lesser
used corners of the internet often lead to my browser being locked open (close
will not work and force quit is the only option that will work at that point).
anyone who purposely codes adverts or flash objects to do this is not
considered very trustworthy. I have found several other applications that are
equally as (if not more so) as MacKeeper without the misleading advertisements.
CleanMyMac is one such. I use the free version (which is limited, but doesn't
interfere) and is very accessible. unfortunately, I cannot upgrade beyond the
version I have due to the limitations of my system (I desperately need a new
mac). I also use terminal to remove unwanted items from a command line prompt.
that is, in a lot of ways, a more powerful approach.
