Thanks.  That is indeed the exact article I have been using for this switch 
from pop to IMAP.  I think you shared the link a long time ago and I had it 
bookmarked for when I had the time to tackle this. It has been very helpful.  I 
had understood from the article that all my folders from my mac would sync over 
to gmail and all my gmail folders would sync over to apple mail like magic.  I 
did not find anything in the article that actually said this but it sounded 
like that's how iMAP works.  This is not what happened for me at all.  None of 
my apple mail folders migrated over to gmail.  I wasn't even sure if I was 
supposed to move my folders to the gmail folder at the bottom of my mailbox 
list in the sidebar.  Is that what I'm supposed to do?  I am having my ten year 
old do the drag and drop for me since I have no idea how to do that via the 
keyboard and VO.
