Dear Esther,

I do want to thank you for your valuable hints.

I wasn't aware of the command+shift+c combination to reveal all the devices. 
Try as I did, I couldn't reveal the super drive attached. In the preferences of 
the finder menu I have checked to display all the volumes, external disks, 
servers, etc. But for some reason they do not always show in my finder.

I will make sure I have saved your suggestions for later, should I have come 
across similar problems in the future. 

There's so much to learn from all of you. I do thank you.
